What’s the Price of a "Quick Fix" Solution?

Many people are genuinely trying to make a change in their life; they buy health products, take vitamins, and do their best to make healthy choices. But, when it’s time to face an obstacle, or they become frustrated with their lack of results, they often turn to a “miracle cure” in the form of pills, vitamins, or whatever it may be.
You have to admit, the idea of a “quick fix” must have crossed your mind at least once.
Sure, you can see some dramatic short-term results and change your body fat % by using weight loss drugs, thermogenics, thyroid stimulators, diuretics, and other chemicals. However, the immediate results you may see can be deceiving. It’s a rush for anyone when they see quick and easy results without any real effort on their part. But in the long run, it’s an illusion that takes you further from your long term goals of living healthy and lean for your entire life. (Can you imagine taking “fat burners” at age 70? Is there a miracle cure that can make you strong & healthy and able to play with your grandkids at 80 years old?)
Just like vitamins, herbs, & health foods, the market for nutritional supplements, prescription obesity drugs, or even over the counter “fat burners”, is soaring. With all the products on the market, magazine articles, news report, books, and infomercials, it’s easy to assume that your favorite product does what they say it will. As the consumer, you must ask yourself if these products really deliver the long term results you are looking for.
Things like Xenical, Phentermine, Ephedrine, & gastric bypass surgery, are options the pharmaceutical/medical community has offered as a solution to obesity and weight control. All except gastric bypass have been taken off the market, but why? These products provided a temporary solution to weight control instead of the long term answer most people need. At best, these things are a temporary fix and means of ignoring the true cause of obesity or being overweight.
Lean and healthy living doesn’t happen by mistake. It’s a way of life, the result of definite and specific actions that are proven to produce results. People who are living lean have certain habits (of thought and action) that produce a lean, healthy body, it’s that simple. In the same respect, living stressed out, binge eating, and being overweight doesn’t happen by mistake either. It’s a way of life, the result of your own choices & habits (of thought & action).
No matter what your living, whether your lean or overweight, you should think of it as an effect (or result). Instead of being depressed or disappointed with your results, recognize that every effect (result) has a cause. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Instead of treating the effects by taking pills, supplements, or considering surgery, you can treat the cause. If you’re overweight, finding the true cause will remove the problem and create lasting change in your life.
How do you find the cause? I feel the source of most peoples struggle with body fat is in the self-image they hold deep in their heart. If you feel that you are fat, ugly, or overweight, if that is your identity, you’ll have a lifestyle that lines up with that picture. Inactivity, poor nutrition, and lack of motivation are all products of the negative self-image you hold deep inside your heart and are often the true cause of your weight control struggles. It doesn’t matter what product or procedure you use, they only treat the effects (too much body fat, not enough exercise, bad nutrition, no motivation).
Lifelong health, fitness and a perfect body weight do not come from a bottle, in a box, or through surgery. To permanently live healthy, be lean, and be filled with energy, you must identify the cause of your struggle, which usually starts with your own psyche, and work from the inside-out (not the outside-in). When you begin to work from the inside (the cause), you’ll notice improved motivation, better nutrition, and living an active lifestyle will finally last for good.
