Comment on How Many Calories Do I Need to Lose Fat? by sara

Hello, I am in quite the predicament, it seems. I am 5.5 1/2 inches tall and weigh 135.5 right now--which is just really big for me. I feel so yuck. I feel my best and feel totally healthy at 124-126. I have a small frame according to the wrap your thumb around your wrist test.

All the websites say I need 1400-1700 calories to meet BMR. I work out with intense aerobics classes and weight lifting that burn (so my instructor says) 800-1000 calories per class at least 3-4 times a week---turbo jam or kickboxing and pilates. I have been doing these classes and eating btwn 1300-1450 calories each day for about two weeks now and I have not lost a single pound. In fact, with the water and fiber I am drinking I feel bloated and full all the time....just fat.

In the past when I have dieted I have followed the 1200 calorie rule or counted points with ww. Even then, I could do just fine on 1100 calories a day.

I really am so tempted to eat 1200 calories a day on the days I dont work out and 1300-1400 on the days I do. What do you think I should do? Should I have my metabolism checked?

Thanks suzie for your comment. In my experience with clients, they love having a trainer because of all the positive feedback and confidence it gives them.

I do have some clients who give me the glare sometimes though. But they love it because they know doing the work is good for them.

I love this and can be so true when you start out- a good reminder as once you have started to keep going. it's a bit like cleaning your teeth , getting into a regular habit. I know easier said then dome. Why is it that when you have a very early start exercise is the first thing to go:)

Ya, I know. Even internet marketers don't know the difference because a lot of them are experts in marketing, not in the subject they are discussing. They actually use other high ranking sites as references just like everyone else and the issue compounds.

What are you going to do though?

From an internet marketing viewpoint I think this is a very serious issue. So many people do searches and probably assume that because the site is listed by Google there is some sort of automatic endorsement and could follow the recommendation to buy, act or whatever just because of the high ranking. I'd never stopped to think about this before - if I didn't find what I wanted I just moved on but how many people who don't know what they're looking for just accept what they read?

I agree, people allow their age to bring them down and I wonder if they would feel younger just by exercising and staying active.

Not sure what you mean about the 300 workout being a 1 off fitness test, but if you mean to say that it is a level 1 in difficulty, I guess it depends on where you are starting from.

Thanks for the comment!

Thumbs up to Steve, 54 is only old if you think you are, anyone can keep fit it just takes discipline.

The 300 workout is by Mark Twight over at Gym Jones, funny thing is, contrary to popular opinion, he says that the workout was just a 1 off fitness test.

Though it could be used for cardio and fitness training.
